Saw It. Pinned It. Did It.

So I've been religiously stalking
Stephanie and Katie's weekly Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. link up
for quite some time now.

And while I love love love a good linky
I've had a hard time thinking about what to link up to this one.

Don't get me wrong,
I am uhbsessed with Pinterest
(who isn't?)
and I've actually Saw. Pinned. Did. several different things.

95% of them are school related.
Seriously, every week when I do lesson plans,
Pinterest is a significant resource.

1.5% are food related.
I've found a few new recipes.
But, when it comes to food,
I'm really bad about trying new things.
And following directions.
This makes cooking rather challenging.

The other 3.5% are home related.
And not all of those are executed in the exact same way.
Pinterest serves more as an inspiration
for different things around the house I want to try
with my own little twist.
(Again, this could go back to my inability to follow precise directions.)

I did make these suuuuuper cute dog silhouettes a few months ago.
I didn't know I'd be blogging about it
so I didn't take step-by-step pictures.
But you can get the general idea.

Here's the original pin.

via.

This blog is great.
She goes in to really good detail about what to do.
I've also seen other bloggers do the same thing
with all sorts of other pictures,
not just dogs.

The pin (which was actually a blog post based on another pin....
oh, how pinteresting)
did their silhouette on huge canvases,
which is really cool and definitely a great accent piece.

I just did mine on smaller 8 x 11 canvases.

Pardon the low-quality iPhone pic.
I didn't plan on actually blogging about this, remember.
And if you recall, I'm currently camera-less.

Here's what I did.

{1}
Find a picture to use.
I tried to take new pictures of my dogs,
to get a good profile shot.
That didn't really happen.
So I ended up just finding pictures that I already had.

{2}
Print the pictures on regular computer paper.
No need to use photo paper, because you're actually not even going to see the original picture.

{3}
Cut out the picture.
Be sure to cut out all the little details,
that's what makes the silhouette that much nicer.

{4}
(This is where I tweaked the original pin a bit.)
Trace the picture onto a white canvas,
again paying close attention to the details.

{5}
Choose a color and paint around the traced picture.

{6}
Hang it up
and enjoy your DIY picture silhouette.

Suuuuuper easy.

Don't forget to link up and share your Saw It. Pinned It. Did It.

Happy Pinning!

Hugs,
